Google Launches Its Bard Chatbot in France: A Game Changer in AI Conversations

Google has finally announced the launch of its artificial intelligence chatbot, Bard, in Europe. Previously excluded since its initial launch in March, the tech giant has also introduced several new features including voice synthesis and various conversation modes.

Bard: A Multilingual AI Chatbot

Bard, Google’s response to ChatGPT, was initially introduced in March. At that time, it was based on the large language model LaMDA and limited to a small number of users in the United States and the United Kingdom. In May, the AI switched to the more powerful language model PaLM 2, and access was extended to 180 countries, excluding Europe.

Today, Bard understands a total of 46 languages, including French, German, Spanish, Arabic, and Chinese. Its responses are now more accessible, with the chatbot integrating voice synthesis that allows users to listen to responses in over 40 languages.

New Features to Enhance User Experience

In a blog post published today, Jack Krawczyk, Director of Product Management at Google, announced the expansion of Bard’s availability to Europe and Brazil. Users no longer need to use a VPN to access it.

Bard now offers five conversation modes: simple, long, short, professional, and informal. However, this feature is initially limited to English. Additionally, users can now include images in their requests, thanks to the integration of Google Lens features. This, too, is initially reserved for English.

Google has also added several other features, such as the ability to pin and organize conversations, share responses, and export Python code to Replit.
